Audible Audioで聞ける！少女が主人公、面白そうな英語の児童書メモ（2015年2月）

英語多読のため、児童向けの小説を米国Amazon.comで漁ったのでメモ。
奇しくも気になった本は、みんな女の子が主人公でした。

少しずつ買って読んで行こうと思います。

2007年に早川書房から翻訳が出された『本泥棒』の原作。
2013年には『やさしい本泥棒』というタイトルでアメリカでドラマ映画化された。
日本では劇場公開無し、2015年1月7日にソフトレンタル開始とのことで、ランキングに上がってきた模様。

読書好きなら「本」に関する小説は気になってしまうもので、タイトルで「オッ」と思った作品。
ヤングアダルト作家が、大人向けに書いた小説らしい。

ストーリーはナチス政権下、里親と暮らす読書好きの少女の物語。

わたしは死神。自己紹介はさして必要ではない。好むと好まざるとにかかわらず、いつの日か、あなたの魂はわたしの腕にゆだねられることになるのだから。

これからあなたに聞かせる話は、ナチス政権下のドイツの小さな町に暮らす少女リーゼルの物語だ。彼女は一風変わった里親と暮らし、隣の少年と友情をはぐくみ、匿ったユダヤ人青年と心を通わせることになる。

オシャレな表紙と、“The Paper Magician”という読子・リードマンのようなタイトルにビビッときてしまった。
Audible Audioが安いというのも魅力。

日本では『ダーウィンと出会った夏』というタイトルで2011年にほるぷ出版から翻訳版が出されている。

自然科学のおもしろさに目覚めていく少女の物語らしい。
自然科学の英単語を学ぶのにいいかも。

表紙の独特なイラストと赤の色彩がいいなぁ、と思った作品。

日本では早川文庫から『宝石の筏で妖精国を旅した少女』というタイトルで2013年に翻訳されている。本屋で文庫を見かけて気になっていた本だったから、ちょうどよいかも。

表紙のイラストのような、「ドラゴンと少女」ってテーマはやっぱりワクワクする。
内容はというと、少女が妖精の国に旅立ち、冒険する話らしい。
女の子が主人公の話は好きだ。

Word Wise未対応だが、Audible Audioは安い。
